Allure LMS vs a generic LMS

Most learning platforms are built to deliver courses and count completions. Here is what to check in any of them, and how Allure LMS answers.

In one paragraph

The difference.

A generic LMS, such as a course-selling platform or a corporate training LMS (TalentLMS and Thinkific are common examples of the category), is built around delivering courses and recording completions. Allure LMS adds role-specific workspaces, deliberate instructor feedback, reviewed skill evidence, built-in community and an academy that speaks its own language.

Which fits

Choose by the job, not the brand.

Choose Allure LMS if…

  • You need to see what people can do, not just what they finished.
  • Several roles share the work: authors, instructors, managers.
  • Your community wants its own words and look.

Choose a generic LMS if…

  • Your main job is selling courses to the public.
  • You need an HR-system integration Allure LMS does not offer yet.
Where the other approach is strong
  • Some generic platforms include storefronts, marketing pages and payment tools for selling courses to the public; Allure LMS focuses on running an academy.
  • Large corporate LMSs may offer integrations with HR systems that Allure LMS does not list today.
  • If your need is simply to host and sell a course, a course-selling platform may be enough.
Questions

Asked by teams making this choice.

Does Allure LMS sell courses to the public?
Allure LMS runs academies for organizations. Creators who sell a single course can use a Course Pass, sold through Allure Training OS and delivered by Allure LMS (coming soon).
What should we ask any LMS vendor?
Ask what counts as a billable user, whether grades can be held until release, whether labels can change without a developer, how SCORM is hosted, and whether completion and capability are recorded separately.
